LGV C Class Rigid (Old Class 2)
This is a LGV class requiring a medical, provisional licence and theory test. You must be at least 18 years old. C Class is above 7.5 tonne. Training vehicles are modern, full sized vehicles. Training on all courses is given in accordance with the official syllabus as in the LGV manual.

LGV C+E Class Artic (Old Class 1)
There are several steps you must take in preparation for this particular training course. You must have passed a C Class test first and have your licence back from the DVLA (with C&E provisional entitlement added).
Also, on this C&E test, you will be asked to uncouple & re-couple the trailer (which is the final exercise on the test).

Car drivers who passed their test after January 1st 1997 will only be able to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight. Any weight above this and you will need C1 entitlement on your licence - these can include ambulances, horse boxes and some mobile homes. C1 7.5 tonne is a LGV class and requires a medical and theory test be passed.

By the end of this course, trainees should be able to ensure the safe movement of vehicles, be aware of dangers in the operation, be able to react and be aware of the recommended code of signals and also be able to confidently manoeuvre a large vehicle and trailer.
